Archimandrite Christopher and Archdeacon Michael attended Jum'a at Medina Masjid with religious leaders of the East Village, to show respect for and solidarity with our Muslim fellow American citizens. Imam AbuSufian, a member of the Local Faith Leaders of the East Village group welcomed us during his sermon, and each leader spoke a few words of greeting and support. Also present was NY State Senator Brad Hoylman. In a statement on behalf of of the religious leaders, Anthony Donovan said: Together we stand up again to embrace one another and face our common enemies: isolation, hatred, fear, prejudice, and insult... Since the 1970's we remain very thankful for the presence of Medina Masjid here among us, even more so today. You are us. You are part of 'We.'"
