Regarding PALM SUNDAY, April 12, 2020.
We will bless palms and willows "behind closed doors.” These blessed symbols of our Lord's triumphant Entrance into Jerusalem will be kept in Church to be distributed on that first Sunday when we are all gathered together, once again, in our parish church to worship together - regardless of the time of year it comes.
This late distribution THEN BECOMES A SYMBOL OF OUR OWN TRIUMPHANT ENTRANCE - OUR RETURN INTO OUR BELOVED PARISH TEMPLES FOLLOWING SAFE PASSAGE THROUGH THE PANDEMIC THREAT TO OUR LIVES.
The distribution of the branches to the faithful will be done as they enter church on that Sunday and before the Divine Liturgy begins, the entire congregation, led by their Father in Christ, shall join together holding the branches high above their heads in the singing of the Palm Sunday Tropar (Tone 1) "Giving us before thy Passion an assurance of the general resurrection..." - followed by the Paschal Tropar: CHRIST IS RISEN!
Red eggs, which will be blessed on Pascha, also behind closed doors, will be joyfully distributed to all at the end of that blessed Liturgy.
Regarding BLESSING OF PASCHAL FOODS
On Holy Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 am during the Live Stream of the Vesperal Divine Liturgy of Pascha we will be blessing eggs and Pascha food at the end liturgy.
I will read the Prayers for blessing, and then everyone can sprinkle their food with holy water.
Have hope. Look forward to us all being reunited in prayer and thanksgiving.
